Course Overview
Hi, everyone. My name is Casey Ayers and welcome to my course, Project Schedule Management. This course is the fifth in our newly updated series, Helping You Prepare for the Latest Version of the PMP Exam, based on the Sixth Edition of the Project Management Body of Knowledge, better known as the PMBOK guide. By completing this course and others in our PMP prep series, you'll not only be better prepared the ace the certification exam, but critically, will also completely fulfill the mandatory training requirement that must be met before taking the exam. The PMP or Project Management Professional certification is consistently listed as one of the top five most valuable certifications for IT professionals and is also broadly applicable to a wide range of industries. Given how much new value can be created from successful projects, businesses in all sectors and of all sizes need capable project managers today. A PMP builds the skills needed to succeed and opens new doors for those with the certification. Some of the major topics we'll cover in this course include planning schedule management, defining and sequencing activities, and estimating activity durations, helping pave the way for the development and control of project schedules. By the end of this course you'll have developed the skills necessary to move on to the next course in this series where you'll learn how to apply these skills to developing and controlling project schedules. This course and others in the series cannot only help you learn more about project management and prepare for the PMP exam, but also serve as a great refresher for established project managers and as an opportunity to earn continuing education credit. I hope you'll join me on this journey to prepare for the PMP exam and learn more about project schedule management here at Pluralsight.

Defining Project Activities
Welcome back. In this brief module we'll be discussing the Defined Project Activities process. First, we'll introduce the process and see how it relates to some of the other things we did in project scope management such as putting together a work breakdown structure and the various work packages therein. After that we'll look at the process components as found in the PMBOK Guide. Let's get started.

Sequencing Project Activities
Welcome back. In this module we're going to discuss sequencing project activities. First, we'll introduce the Sequence Activities process, then we'll discuss precedence diagramming followed by dependency determination. After that we'll look at leads and lags in more detail and then put it all together with project schedule network diagrams. Finally, we'll look at the sequence activity process and its various components as found in the PMBOK Guide. Let's get started.

Estimating Activity Durations
Welcome back. In this module we're going to look at estimating activity durations. First, we'll introduce the process and what we use it for. Then we'll look at a variety of estimation techniques beginning with an analogous estimating, moving on to parametric estimating, then three-point estimating. After that we'll look at the importance of contingency reserves in your project and we'll explore this process' components as found in the PMBOK Guide. Let's get started.
